Silverstone holds the FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation — the highest level available, reserved for organisations demonstrating best practice — and is on a public journey toward its ‘Shift to Zero’ net-zero strategy.
The Challenge
Data was there. Accessibility wasn’t
As Silverstone’s sustainability programme matured, it generated an increasingly rich set of environmental data — covering carbon emissions, waste diversion performance, and supplier sustainability metrics across events and operations.
The challenge was not a lack of data. It was accessibility. Extracting insights still required navigating multiple dashboards and reports, and stakeholders — from board members to event teams — regularly needed the sustainability team’s help to understand calculation methodologies, interpret figures, or locate specific data for reporting. This created a bottleneck that limited how widely the data could be used and slowed down reporting cycles.
The Solution
A single platform — and an AI that speaks plain English
Silverstone partnered with Experienz — a multi-tenant SaaS platform purpose-built for sustainability data management in sport — to centralise its environmental data and unlock real-time reporting. The Experienz platform, hosted entirely on AWS, enables Silverstone to measure and report carbon emissions per event, track waste diversion performance, and manage supplier sustainability data in a single place.
Building on this foundation, Experienz deployed an AI-Powered Sustainability Assistant on the Silverstone instance of the platform. The assistant gives staff at any level the ability to query Silverstone’s sustainability data using plain English — receiving instant, methodology-grounded responses — without needing to navigate dashboards or rely on the sustainability team as an intermediary.
The solution uses a multi-agent architecture orchestrated by AWS Step Functions, with knowledge grounded in both global ESG methodologies (including GHG Protocol) and Silverstone's own historical reports and audit documentation stored in Amazon S3. Amazon Bedrock powers the natural language interface, while real-time data is served through a Cube.js analytics layer backed by Amazon RDS, with results cached via Amazon ElastiCache for fast query responses.
